The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is one of the most significant events in the league. It is where NFL coaches, scouts, and front office executives evaluate draft prospects, and conversations occur among all teams.
Despite finishing with one of the worst records this past 2024 NFL season, the New England Patriots are a team with potential. A major topic surrounding the team is their ability to make incoming second-year quarterback Drake Maye a star.
Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan was on the floor getting an idea of what other teams around the league believe about Maye. Callahan shared an overall collective thought of teams regarding Maye with 98.5 The Sports Hub:
“Top five,” Callahan said. “He’s a stud. They think that’s the ceiling. It’s pretty universal from people I’ve spoken to and what they think—he’s a stud.
“I put it this way during the season, and we probably even talked about it: If he was playing at almost a league-average level as a 22-year-old kid with the worst pass-protecting offensive line in the league and arguably the worst receiving core, what’s he going to do when he brings everyone to a higher level around him? That’s a guy who’s going to drive winning.
“They love what they see; they love what they have. Some people say (Maye and new head coach Mike Vrabel) is kind of a scary duo. People in the AFC are like, ‘Vrabel, Maye—they’re cooking now.’”
