Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks has always been a versatile force. Now, in the 2024-25 NBA season, Towns is making his presence felt in a new way.
Towns was recently elected as Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Executive Committee. He is stepping into a leadership role that underscores the respect he commands among his peers.
At the NBPA’s annual winter meeting, Towns and Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent were elected as the newest Vice Presidents, while Jaylen Brown was re-elected for a third term. They replace Malcolm Brogdon and Bismack Biyombo, who stepped down after their second terms. Their three-year terms commence immediately.
Towns’ first season with the Knicks has been strong, proving himself as a leader on and off the court. His contributions extend beyond basketball, as he now helps guide the NBPA’s strategic and business decisions.
“I’m excited to join the NBPA Executive Committee and honored that my peers voted me into this position,” Towns responded to being voted NBPA VP. “The players power this game, and I want to be in a position to find new ways to deliver value for my fellow players, on and off the court.”
With his leadership, Towns isn’t just redefining his role in the NBA—he’s ensuring players’ voices are heard. The Knicks may have gained a star, but the league has gained a powerful advocate
