The Seattle Mariners had a tremendous starting rotation in 2024, and the unit should be able to be just as strong this season. Last season they led the league in ERA, innings pitched, Quality Starts, and opposing batting average.
Starting Pitcher Logan Gilbert had a particularly good season. He finished 14th in ERA, sixth in strikeouts, and led the league in WHIP in 2024. That great season led to him being named to his first MLB All-Star Game and a sixth-place in Cy Young voting. Will the starting pitchers of the Seattle Mariners be able to carry the team once more in 2025?
Seattle Mariners Season Outlook
Seattle will look to rebound from an 85-77 season that left them a mere one game out of the MLB Playoffs . The Mariners will bring back their starting rotation from last season which includes Luis Castillo, George Kirby, Gilbert, Bryce Miller , and Bryan Woo.
The issue for the Seattle Mariners in 2024 was their subpar offense. They were 29th in batting average, 12th in home runs, and 21st in runs scored. Seattle must get improved production from their offense to have a successful 2025 campaign. Their biggest offseason move was acquiring Outfielder Randy Azozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays. Center Fielder Julio Rodriguez must also rebound from an underwhelming 2024 season. His numbers were down across the board. He will look to return to MVP form.
Final Thoughts
If Seattle’s starting rotation can perform to a comparable level this season as they did in 2024, this season will be successful. They also need greater production from their offense. If those two things happen, a return to the postseason is possible for the Seattle Mariners.
