The Baltimore Ravens have proudly proclaimed to have a “zero-tolerance policy” as it relates to sexual misconduct, at least as it pertains to Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, and his recent allegations, have put that to the test. In the weeks since the Tucker news broke, it has become clear that the Ravens do not have an official, written policy on the matter.
And as the NFL’s investigation continues, Baltimore has decided not to cut Tucker until its conclusion.
On Sunday, the Ravens explained the decision to keep Tucker amid his sexual misconduct allegations. “We have been in contact with the league periodically,” President Sashi Brown said at the NFL Owners meetings. “We try to respect and stay at an arm’s length as they conduct their investigation. “For a lot of reasons you can imagine, you wouldn’t want to have multiple investigations going on.
[That would] not be fair to anybody involved, including those who have made allegations.”
Early in the offseason, 16 massage therapists in the Baltimore area accused Tucker of inappropriate behavior that, pending the league’s investigation, will likely result in his release and potential suspension.
However, some have criticized the team for not swiftly cutting Tucker in the spirit of their perceived policy.
Brown continued to elaborate on how the team is handling the situation by preaching the importance of acting with as much information as possible.
