The New York Jets have a new head coach leading the way. Aaron Glenn, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, was hired this offseason.
Glenn is hoping to bring a new culture to the Jets. He will look to turn around the franchise from their struggles in recent years and get them back into playoff contention.
So far this offseason, New York has made some big moves. Signing quarterback Justin Fields is the biggest one. He is the new starting quarterback for the Jets and will be asked to fix a position that has been a need for quite some.
In order to support Fields, New York will need its running game to step up.
Over the last couple of years, there have been high expectations for running back Breece Hall. He has shown flashes of superstar potential, but has not been able to provide consistency.
Now, the new head coach is putting pressure on Hall. Glenn hinted that Hall’s job as the starter may not be safe in 2025.
As shared by Rich Cimini of ESPN, Glenn spoke out about Hall and the running back position. He emphasized the fact that the Jets have three good running backs on the roster.
“I think, mentally, he’s in a good place, but I would say that we have three running backs on this team that we’re going to utilize as much as possible,” Glenn said.
During the 2024 season, Hall played in 16 games. He carried the football 209 times for 876 yards and five touchdowns. In addition. he caught 57 passes for 483 yards and an additional three scores.
As for backup Braelon Allen, the rookie picked up 334 yards and two touchdowns on 92 carries. He also caught 19 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Regardless of who takes over the lead role, New York needs a running game. Hall will have to earn the job this year.
