Browns fans are often also Buckeye fans, and there’s been a loud subset of that group who has wanted their NFL franchise to add more stars from Columbus. However, that’s rarely been the case. That has changed with Baker’s arrival.
Baker was known as a playmaking off-ball linebacker for the Buckeyes over his two seasons on the field. The third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Baker played in 33 games and totaled 158 tackles.
He earned two Second-Team All-Big Ten nominations after making clutch plays in big moments.
He returned an interception for a 68-yard touchdown, putting the Buckeyes ahead 14-0 against No. 14 Oklahoma in 2016. During an overtime victory at No. 8 Wisconsin that same year, he recorded 13 tackles.
Baker achieved a then-career-high 15 tackles in the game against No. 3 Michigan, where he also made a crucial interception late in the third quarter while Ohio State was trailing by 10. Additionally, he set a career-high with 16 tackles in the 2017 Big Ten Championship game against Wisconsin.
At 28 years old, his 2024 season was eventful; he started with Seattle, was traded to Tennessee in October, and ended up with a career-low total of 61 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) across 10 games during the regular season.
The former Dolphins, Titans, and Seahawks linebacker has 648 tackles and 24.5 sacks over his career. He’s now the sixth Buckeye to be on the Browns’ roster, joining Luke Wypler, Denzel Ward, Dawand Jones, Ronnie Hickman, and Mike Hall Jr.
