The Indianapolis Colts were wise to add talent to their secondary in free agency ahead of the NFL Draft.
Now, they opened themselves up to consider more options when they are on the clock in the early rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. But that doesn’t mean we should rule out the possibility of the Colts still adding a player in the secondary early in this class. It looks like the Colts agree because they are scheduled to host one of the draft’s biggest mysteries for a top-30 visit.
Colts are scheduled to host East Carolina star cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. for a top-30 visit
The Colts are going to get a closer look at East Carolina corner Shavon Revel Jr. Multiple scouts around the NFL were very excited to see him play in 2024 after a strong 2023 season. Early in the year, he certainly lived up to the hype.
He only appeared in three games before tearing his ACL, but still recorded two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. If you just watch Revel’s tape at East Carolina, you will be impressed by his natural ability in coverage. However, the fact that he played at a group of five school hindered his ability to face elite talent. And to make it more complicated, due to him still rehabbing his injury, he wasn’t able to provide athletic testing at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The Colts will now meet with him again, and it appears they will have another medical check done by their team doctors. If they feel good about his medicals, I think he is one of the top CBs in the class for Lou Anrarumo’s defense. I don’t think he would be an option for the team at 14, but if he fell into the second round, he would be an excellent option to start opposite Charvairus Ward at CB and complete the team’s new and improved secondary ahead of 2025.
