The New Orleans Saints have begun their wheeling and dealing. They’ve agreed to a notable trade for a potential defensive starter, according to recent reports.
Saints agree to trade for Davon Godchaux
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots have agreed to a trade that sends Davon Godchaux back to Louisiana in return for a seventh-round draft pick.
According to Spotrac, the Saints will receive the veteran defensive lineman, $5 million ($4 million guaranteed) this year, and $8.5 million (non-guaranteed) in 2026.
The Patriots will receive the Saints’ 2026 seventh round draft pick.
Godchaux played his high school football at Plaquemine before playing at LSU from 2014-2016.
He was selected by Miami in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and played with the Dolphins from 2017 to 2020.
Godchaux spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots.
In his eight-year NFL career, the 6’3″, 330-pound defensive lineman has started 109 games with 429 tackles.
In other news, cornerback Paulson Adebo will be joining the New York Giants according to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
Monday, the two sides agreed on a three-year deal worth $54 million ($36 million guaranteed).
The 25-year-old was the Saints’ third round draft pick in 2021 and has been a steady presence in the New Orleans secondary.
He started 51 games in four seasons
Adebo broke his femur in the Saints’ Thursday night matchup with the Denver Broncos on Oct. 17.
