The Dolphins have been dealt more pain with two players ruled out of their round two trip to Newcastle.
The Redcliffe club bravely flew to Sydney last week to face South Sydney despite Tropical Cyclone Alfred bearing down on their homes in south east Queensland.
The team lost 16-14 to the Rabbitohs, with players including Kodi Nikorima, Mark Nicholls, and Kenny Bromwich, absent after deciding to stay home to help out with cyclone preparation.
Now the Dolphins have lost forwards Connelly Lemuelu and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki to injury.
Lemuelu fractured an eye socket against South Sydney and will miss at least a month.
The injury meant he had to be driven from Sydney to Brisbane on Saturday, rather than fly with the rest of the team.
“In good news, Connelly will not require surgery on his eye socket,” head of performance Jeremy Hickmans said on Tuesday.
“This is a positive as it brings the timeline for his return to the field down to around the four-week mark.”
Fellow backrower Finefeuiaki will miss this week’s game against the Knights after failing a head injury assessment.
He is expected to be available for their round three game, which will be their first in Queensland after round one was relocated to Sydney.
The Knights beat the Tigers in round one.
