On Tuesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks will play the Los Angeles Lakers (in California).
The matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams after their blockbuster trade that swapped Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis.
Via TNT Sports U.S. PR: “NBA on TNT to feature Los Angeles Lakers hosting Dallas Mavericks – Luka Doncic’s first matchup against former team – Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 p.m. ET”
Before the game, Kyrie Irving was asked about the matchup.
Irving: “Outside of just the obvious of us being in LA and being a former team of Luka’s, obviously the narratives already been written. I don’t know what else I can really add to that. I’m pretty much just focused on telling my guys just to foucs on the high level game that we’ve gotta win. I would love to get into the emotions after the game with you… They’re gonna come in and be ready to play against us. Luka’s obviously gonna have a lot of confidence that game. He played well last game, so he’s feeling good and we just gotta be aware of it.”
Irving spent part of three seasons playing with Doncic on the Mavs.
They had been coming off a season where they reached the 2024 NBA Finals.
Right now, the Mavs are the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 31-27 record in 58 games.
They have gone 5-5 over their last ten.
Following the Lakers, the Mavs will return home to host the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
