The 2025 NBA All-Star Game was highlighted by a brand new tournament-style format aimed at shortening the amount of play and incentivizing competitiveness… at least that’s what Phoenix Suns All-Star Kevin Durant thought.
But the game was overshadowed by promos, music, Kevin Hart monologues and pretty much everything but basketball. Fans took to social media to share their disdain and disappointment of how the weekend unraveled. Many called it the worst All-Star Weekend ever, others just wanted there to be more basketball and less theatrics.
Durant is arguably the most passionate basketball player on the planet, and is also not shy about it. So, of course, to responded to fans in defense of the weekend.
“I think it’s more fun to complain about the NBA than to actually watch it,” Durant said in an X/Twitter post. “Crazy, cancel all star weekend and let’s just give everybody a break since we’re so miserable around this time…”
