With the Los Angeles Dodgers stacking their roster, particularly their pitching staff, they are a team to keep an eye on because they already had a lot of good pitchers. With so many new faces joining the club, some of those arms will have to be designated for assignment, and the first of those moves happened last night.
According to Robert Murray, the Dodgers have DFA’D Ryan Brasier.
Brasier is an eight-year veteran whose career did not really begin until he was 30 years old back in 2018 with the Red Sox. Since then, he’s recorded a 3.85 ERA and 3.58 FIP over 245 career appearances, with those numbers looking even better since he joined the Dodgers during the 2023 season. In 39 appearances for Los Angeles that year, he boasted a .070 ERA with a 2.48 FIP and 0.724 WHIP. Braiser then followed it up with a 3.54 ERA, 3.11 FIP, and 0.964 WHIP in 2024.
Those are some more respectable numbers, and at 37 years old, it shouldn’t cost too much to land him. The Braves are looking to add multiple arms before the start of the season, even if it’s just for competition. Braiser could be an option, but he might not be the only talented arm the Dodgers are forced to designate for assignment due to a surplus of talent.
